TEDxEindhoven is back in 2017 for another year of sharing ideas worth spreading. After the success of the inaugural event in 2016, we are excited to announce that 2017 will be even bigger and better.
In July last year, 18 TED-like experiences came to life for a sold-out audience of nearly 300 on the Einstein Auditorium stage at High Tech Campus Eindhoven. The talks and performances drew on the theme Crossroads and are now published on the TEDx YouTube channel.
You might think that’s a hard act to follow… and you’re right. So we’re pulling out all the stops. This year we’re focusing on ideas that illuminate, ideas that energize, ideas that enlighten and ideas that have changed the course of history. This year’s theme is Lightbulb Moments.
It’s fitting that Eindhoven is the home of the first Philips lightbulb factory, established here in 1891. You could say Frederik Philips and his son, Gerard, had a Lightbulb Moment when they financed the purchase of a modest factory in Eindhoven to manufacture cost-effective, reliable electric incandescent light bulbs. Now Philips is a global, household brand. And Eindhoven continues to produce remarkable Lightbulb Moments.
By definition, a Lightbulb Moment is a moment of sudden realization, enlightenment, or inspiration. You’ve probably had one such moment. And you’ve probably wished you had someone else’s Lightbulb Moment before they did. Imagine all those Lightbulb Moments together at one event. Well, now it’s here. Save the date for TEDxEindhoven 2017 on 10 November at the Klokgebouw.
