TEDxEindhoven announces the first speakers
for inaugural edition 2016
Within the theme of this first edition, crossroads, fifteen speakers will share their views on where their ‘crossroads’ will bring society. We will explore crossroads of technology and education, travel through the real and the virtual world and transform inspiration from our dreams to knowledge.
The organization of TEDxEindhoven is proud to announce a varied program of speakers, including Rob van Gijzel, mayor of Eindhoven, who will share his vision on the importance and function of a city. Daniel Lakens, assistant-professor Human-Technology Interaction at the Eindhoven University of Technology, will show us how randomness influences our daily lives. Fellow academic Albert Menkveld, professor of Finance at the VU Amsterdam, will give us a look at how ‘high frequency trading’ is radically changing the world stock exchange.
For a view of our local Strijp-S, Thom Aussems, Director of housing corporation Trudo, will give insight in how the old Philips area, previously known as the forbidden city, has been transformed to a prominent area to work and live. Furthermore, TU/e student Bert Maashas plans to show the audience the (lack of) feelings and emotions of an electric car, Vera de Pont will place us on the crossroads between fantasy and reality through fashion design and Stijn Stumpel, designer at Manus VR, will tell us about his experience in the virtual world.
The stage will be shared by various acts, from music to theatre, from projection mapping to poetry. The organization sees the Muziekgebouw, with a central location in the city center of Eindhoven, as the perfect venue to host this day of inspiration, ideas and experiences.
Alongside TEDxEindhoven 2016, several other events will be organized, such as speaker pitch events, of which the next one will take place on the 15th of May at DIT festival. After the main event other events will take place in collaboration with partners. Tickets for the main event on the 8th of July 2016 can be acquired through www.TEDxEindhoven.nl
